Viewers say same thing after 'sickening' 24 Hours in Police Custody episode
Viewers of Channel 4 have made an urgent plea to television bosses following a "horror" true crime episode.
Since its debut, 24 Hours in Police Custody has captured the attention of true crime enthusiasts, immersing audiences in the high-stakes world of a local police force. The documentary tracks detectives as they tackle serious offences, with Channel 4 viewers witnessing the pressure-cooker environment as officers unearth shocking revelations in their pursuit of justice.
Previously hailed as "TV Gold" and the "best ever", the acclaimed series continues to draw devoted followers anticipating fresh content. Last night (February 10), Channel 4 broadcast a harrowing instalment, chronicling investigators during what was described as a "disturbing pursuit".
Entitled 24 Hours in Police Custody: Horror House, the programme marked the opening chapter of a distressing case, prompting numerous viewers to criticise the "tough" viewing experience,
One appalled viewer questioned: "This episode of #24hoursinpolicecustody is sickening. Wtf is wrong with people?" whilst another declared: "Couldn't watch it."
Channel 4's synopsis read: "24 Hours in Police Custody. The Horror House (Part 1/2): A lone detective is on the trail of a Luton man who sexually abused scores of young people in what becomes a complex, disturbing pursuit."
After the distressing broadcast, numerous viewers demanded that executives commission new episodes, expressing frustration at yet another repeat transmission.
On Facebook, one individual questioned: "Why is it a repeat again? ?" whilst another commented: "Why are we getting all the repeats."
A third viewer pleaded: "New ones plz, there's enough crime around these days to make loads of new ones! ! !"
A fourth person complained: "Repeat! Sat down ready to watch. Oh its a repeat again..so turned over."
Someone else remarked: "Seen it , I've stopped looking for it now! All repeats!". On X, one individual echoed the sentiment: "Such a shame that this is a repeat."
Another commented: "Another ancient repeat." Episodes of 24 Hours in Police Custody are available to stream on Channel 4's online platform.
The second instalment of the special documentary will be broadcast next week, though viewers should note a schedule adjustment. Rather than Tuesday evening, part two of the Horror House will be shown on Monday, 16 February at 9pm on Channel 4.
