Hour‑by‑Hour Easter Forecast as Storm Dave Set to Hit Wales
Storm Dave is expected to bring a spell of severe weather over the Easter bank holiday, dashing hopes of a bright and settled weekend. The Met Office has officially named the storm, warning of strong winds, heavy showers and potential disruption across parts of the UK.
A yellow wind warning is in place for large areas of north and northwest Wales from 5pm on Saturday until 7am on Easter Sunday, with gusts widely reaching 50–60mph and up to 70mph in exposed areas. Some of the most exposed coastal spots could even see 80–90mph gusts.
Scotland is expected to bear the brunt of the storm, with additional snow warnings in place for the northwest where 10–20cm could fall over higher ground.
Below is the hour‑by‑hour outlook for Wales as Storm Dave moves in.

The Easter weekend begins on a very wet note, with a band of rain covering most of Wales through the morning.
Showery outbreaks will continue for much of the day.

“A dull and blustery day, with showery outbreaks of rain, potentially heavy at times. Turning brighter from the north through the afternoon. Feeling milder despite the cloud. Max 14°C.”
It becomes slightly drier later on, with rain clearing by around 10pm and a largely dry night to follow.

Saturday, April 4
More showers are expected as Wales braces for the arrival of Storm Dave.
Cloud will thicken through the day, with further rain pushing in from the west. Winds will strengthen significantly from mid‑afternoon, with gales developing as the yellow warning comes into force at 5pm.
By Saturday evening:
- Gusts could reach 70mph in northwest Wales
- Southwest Wales may see gusts up to 60mph
- Heavy, blustery showers will sweep across the country
Another band of intense showers will move in later in the night.
---
Sunday, April 5 (Easter Sunday)
Strong winds continue overnight but will gradually ease into the morning.
By 4am, coastal gusts will be around 40mph.
The yellow warning ends at 7am, but it will remain blustery throughout the day with scattered showers.
The Met Office says:
“Bright but blustery on Easter Sunday, with scattered showers.”
---
Easter Monday
Winds ease further, leaving a drier, brighter and warmer day.
It is expected to be the best and most settled day of the bank holiday weekend.
