Swansea’s Ethan Galbraith Ruled Out for the Rest of the Season
Swansea City have been dealt a major injury blow after head coach Vítor Matos confirmed midfielder Ethan Galbraith is unlikely to play again this season.
The Northern Ireland international missed the dramatic 3–3 draw with Sheffield United after suffering a calf injury during the recent international break, where he featured against both Italy and Wales.
Speaking to the BBC, Matos said:
“Ethan has a calf strain so he’s really unlikely to play again this season. It will be around six to eight weeks. Nothing I can control – it happened during the international period.”
Swans fight back for thrilling point
Despite Galbraith’s absence, Swansea produced a spirited comeback at Bramall Lane.
After Gustavo Hamer’s early opener, Zan Vipotnik levelled from the spot, but goals from Harrison Burrows and Tom Cannon put Sheffield United 3–1 up.
Late strikes from Adam Idah and Eom Jisung rescued a point in a breathless finale.
Substitutes praised for impact
Matos highlighted the influence of his bench, with two substitutes scoring and others helping shift the momentum.
He said:
- Jay Fulton brought “control and experience” and made “two unbelievable tackles”
- Adam Idah added “physicality and energy in the final third”
- Eom Jisung, who only arrived back from international duty on Thursday, delivered a “proper effort” in his 20‑minute cameo
Matos added that all five substitutes made a “big impact” and showed the depth and commitment within the squad.
