This Morning Hosts Gasp as ITV Star Reveals Horrific ‘Dirty Dancing’ Accident Live on Air

ITV’s This Morning took an unexpected turn on Bank Holiday Monday after a co‑star revealed the toe‑curling reason behind her sudden trip to A&E — leaving presenters Rylan Clark and Emma Willis visibly stunned.

The pair were joined by broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and columnist and former Coronation Street actress Nicola Thorp for the opening news chat, where the panel discussed how laughing at yourself can make you appear more “charming”.

But the light‑hearted conversation quickly shifted when Nicola casually dropped in:

“I once fell during the Dirty Dancing lift.”

Rylan and Emma gasped in unison, with Rylan immediately asking whether she was the lifter or the one being lifted.

‘I broke my nose… but I laughed it off’

Nicola explained:

“I was lifted. I broke my nose. But I was so embarrassed, I laughed it off — I had blood dripping down and I was like, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine.’”

The presenters buried their faces in their hands as she described brushing off the injury, only realising the severity later.

“It was only when I looked in the mirror I thought, ‘Oh God, I need to go to A&E.’”

‘Don’t put Domestos on your nose!’

Nicola went on to say she even tried to clean up the mess herself using household cleaning products from the host’s kitchen — prompting Rylan to jump in:

“I thought you meant on your nose! Don’t put Domestos on your nose — just get yourself a plaster.”

Emma admitted she would have reacted very differently:

“See, that’s when I want attention. I need people to look after me and feel sorry for me.”

‘Laughing at yourself is the most British thing ever’

Wrapping up the segment, Gyles Brandreth offered a typically Gyles observation:

“Often you ask what the definition of being British is — and I think being able to laugh at yourself is exactly that.”
