Cardiff Animation Festival 2026 set for packed programme of huge names
Cardiff Animation Festival returns this April

Cardiff Animation Festival returns this April with a packed programme of screenings, talks, and hands-on workshops.

Running from April 23 to 26 at Chapter Arts Centre, the ninth edition of the festival will feature a vibrant mix of events for industry professionals and animation fans alike.

Lauren Orme, director of the Cardiff Animation Festival, said: "Cardiff Animation Festival has always been about celebrating community and connection through animation, and 2026 is no different.

"We can't wait to welcome brilliant creators from around the world alongside incredible Wales-based talent."

This year’s programme includes special screenings, guest speakers, and a spotlight on video game animation.

Highlights include talks from animation professionals, screenings of animated shorts and features, and opportunities for visitors to try their hand at creative activities.

Workshops will run throughout the festival, including Aardman model-making sessions, flip-book classes, and a workshop with Oscar nominee Joanna Quinn.

The festival will close on April 26 with the Best of the Fest Awards, hosted by Radio 1 film critic Ali Plumb.
