Josie Gibson in ‘Advanced Talks’ for Strictly Come Dancing Amid Major BBC Shake‑Up
This Morning favourite Josie Gibson is reportedly in advanced talks to join the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, as the BBC show undergoes one of its biggest shake‑ups in years.
Producers are said to have had Josie on their wish list for some time and came close to signing her three years ago. Now, following a major overhaul of the show — including the departure of several professional dancers and long‑time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman — bosses are reportedly more determined than ever to bring her on board.
A source told The Sun that Josie’s warm, down‑to‑earth personality is exactly what the refreshed series needs:
“Josie has been on the BBC’s radar for a while and they’ve not given up their pursuit. Talks are progressing well. Bosses are convinced her charm will be the boost this year’s new‑look show needs.”
Strictly vs I’m A Celeb bidding war
Josie was previously in discussions to join Strictly in 2023 but ended up heading into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle instead, finishing in fourth place. Producers are reportedly hopeful that this year they’ll finally secure her.
From Big Brother winner to daytime TV favourite
Josie first shot to fame after winning Big Brother in 2010. She later joined This Morning as a competition announcer before becoming one of the programme’s most popular presenters.
She has also been open about her personal life, including her weight‑loss journey, intermittent fasting, and her diagnosis of lipoedema, a condition that causes fat to build up in the legs.
Despite her rising profile, Josie has said she has no plans to take on a permanent full‑time presenting role on This Morning:
“I only get to be a mum once and you never get that time back. I love the West Country — that’s where I feel myself and where I can grow.”
A relatable mum with a huge following
Josie regularly shares the highs and lows of parenthood with her hundreds of thousands of followers. Asked whether she sees herself as a role model, she laughed:
“Oh no — please, no. Mums don’t look up to me. I’m juggling, I’m struggling, I’m stressed.”
With Strictly gearing up for a major reboot, producers reportedly believe Josie’s humour, warmth and relatability could make her one of the standout stars of the 2026 series.
