A boy is so obsessed with washing machines his mum's house 'looks like a launderette' with nine of the appliances - and dreams of working at Currys one day. Rachael Atkinson says her three-year-old Teddy Gillespie became obsessed with the utility room appliance at age one after watching a 40-minute cycle from start to finish.

And as his love for washing machines grew, the mum of two bought him his very own toy version for his second Christmas. Teddy now has nine toy washing machines and the 27-year-old mum says the corner of her living room looks like a 'launderette'.

As well as playing with toy appliances, Rachael says Teddy loves to help with the household washing and knows what cycle different types of clothes need. He has also become obsessed with the shop Currys and loves to go and see all the different models in store.

A heartwarming photo shows Teddy standing with all his toy machines wearing his own mini purple Currys top. The dance company owner mum says her son dreams of working at Currys one day and says he'll make a 'good husband' when he's older due to his love of cleaning.

Rachael, from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, said: "I think he likes the spinning [motion]. He's obsessed with washing machines but he also likes fan spinning too. He loved his first washing machine and used the whole battery in one day.

"We went one time to Curry's because he loves washing machines. When he saw them all lined up, his little face lit up and it was better than Christmas day. I couldn't get him out of the shop and we were in there for an hour.

"I now try not to visit Curry's as it's a nightmare to get him out. When we drive past the shop he knows exactly where it is and asks to go in. I have to say it's closed as I'll never get him out if I take him in there.

"The corner of our living room is like a little launderette as it's just full of Teddy's washing machines. He's going to be a good husband when he's older. He loves to help with the washing in the house too. He puts his clothes in the washing basket and tells me we need to do a wash."

For this third birthday, Teddy had a washing machine-themed cake to see in the celebrations. And after posting some photos on social media of Teddy's washing machine obsession, the post received more than 92,000 likes and 800 comments.

One user said: "At least he is doing the washing. Saving you a job." Another added: "10/10 parenting. What a happy lil' chappy." A third commented: "Aww, he's definitely going to be fixing them when he's older." A fourth said: "I love parents that don't force what their kid is into, just lets them be them."
