Woman operated criminal enterprise from pub
Michelle Deere, 53 was sentenced this month

A 53-year-old woman sold cocaine from her local pub, a court has heard. Michelle Deere, from Bridgend, had been selling the drugs from the Britannia Hotel in Pencoed before police were called.

South Wales Police received reports of Deere's criminal activity and began investigating. When they raided her home in Bridgend officers found multiple clear wrap bags of white powder and weighing scales which had white powder on them.

She was arrested at the scene and later charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of amphetamines.

Deere pleaded guilty to the offences and has been jailed following sentencing on Tuesday, February 10 at Cardiff Crown Court to two years and three months in prison.

After the hearing police constable Jonathan Jones said: "Michelle Deere saw class A drugs as a 'get-rich-quick' scheme, only to find out that they were in fact even more effective as a 'go-to-jail-quick' scheme.

"Drugs blight our communities and Michelle was playing her part in bringing that misery to the streets of Bridgend. She is deservedly embarking on a spell in prison."
