Driver slams into parked cars on quiet street
A driver slammed into parked cars on a quiet city street in south Wales before he appeared to run from the scene. Footage taken via CCTV and shared on social media showed the driver crash the vehicle into numerous cars with such force the car appeared to be temporarily airborne.
At least two of the cars hit in the incident appeared to be very badly damaged. It happened at Maesglas Crescent in the Maesglas area of Newport in the early hours of Monday morning at around 12.25am according to officers.
The footage shared by resident Vicki Eaves appeared to show two men exit the car and run away before shouting from concerned residents is then heard in the background of the video which has been viewed thousands of times online.
On Tuesday police said they were investigating the incident although no arrests had been made. A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We had a call at about 12.25am on March 9 reporting the collision on Maesglas crescent where a car collided with parked cars on the roadside.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information that could help can call police on 101, quoting 2600073505, or you can direct message police on social media. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
