Cause of fire which shut major Cardiff not known fire service say
Fire fighters have been pictured at the scene

The cause of a large fire on Rover Way, Cardiff, remains unknown at this stage, South Wales Fire Service say.

The blaze caused long traffic delays for drivers in the area, heading both into and out of the capital on Sunday January 25.

firefighters tackled the large fire to fly-tipped rubbish on the grassland next to Rover Way and the mess left in the aftermath.

South Wales Police officers had to block off part of the road.

Drivers were diverted and local residents advised to keep all doors and windows shut.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews had put out the fire and left the scene of the fire at Rover Way Caravan Site in Pengam Green, by 2.30pm.

A fire service spokesperson said the cause of the fire was not known and an investigation into any possible cause had not been requested.

The road was re-opened by the highways authority after emergency crews left the site.

Two engines and a water bowser were sent to the scene. The fire saw thick smoke affecting a wide area.
