Body found on railway track
A police inquiry is underway following the discovery of a body on the tracks at a Flintshire railway station. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, according to British Transport Police (BTP).
The incident happened yesterday evening (Wednesday, January 7) at Shotton railway station in Deeside. Transport for Wales (TfW) confirmed services were disrupted for the remainder of the evening. Multiple police vehicles, ambulances and a fire engine were reportedly present at the train station.
BTP confirmed that a body was retrieved from the scene. A spokesperson stated: "Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 6.10pm yesterday (7 January) at Shotton railway station.
"Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to their death."
TfW reported that rail services were impacted due to emergency services attending an incident between Shotton and Chester.
A spokesperson further added: "Services were disrupted from 1830 until end of service on Wednesday, January 7."
Four replacement coaches were provided by Mold-based Keanes Coaches for affected rail passengers travelling between Chester and Prestatyn.
