Thief Arrested After Returning to the Scene of the Crime in Swansea
Bodycam footage of Darren Williams' arrest

CCTV has captured the moment a man smashed his way into a parked vehicle in Swansea — before bizarrely returning to the scene an hour later to try again.

Darren Williams, 54, broke into the car on a lane just off Walter Road on March 23. Footage shows him approaching the vehicle in broad daylight, smashing the front passenger window and stealing items from inside.

Around an hour later, Williams came back to the same vehicle and attempted to access it again.

Caught with stolen items

Body‑worn camera footage from South Wales Police shows officers arresting Williams shortly afterwards. He was found in possession of items taken from the car.

Williams pleaded guilty to theft from a motor vehicle and criminal damage, and has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.

Police: “Zero tolerance”

PC Luke Morgan said:

“Thieves like Darren Williams make the good, law‑abiding people of Swansea fearful that their vehicle could be targeted at any time. We have a zero‑tolerance approach to thefts from motor vehicles, and it was pleasing to see this brazen offender brought to justice so quickly.”
