Ospreys comprehensively beaten by powerful Irish province
Keiran Williams of the Ospreys challenges the Munster defence

The Ospreys got comprehensively beaten 26-10 by a powerful Munster outfit at the Brewery Field.

Mark Jones' side got outmuscled by an impressive Munster outfit who were far stronger up-front and efficient behind the scrum Shane Daly, Lee Barron, Jacob Crowley and Mike Haley with Crowley also kicking six points.

All the Ospreys could muster was a single try from Morgan Morris along with five points from the boot of Dan Edwards.

The Welsh club started well with a period of pressure in the Munster 22 which resulted in Edwards kicking the hosts into an early lead.

The Ospreys made life harder than it needed to be when full-back Max Nagy got sent to the sin bin for a try.

Munster made the most of their numerical advantage and turned the screw through their driving lineout.

The visitors' maul got pulled down just short of the line but a neat pass from Liam Coombes found Daly unmarked who claimed the opening try.

The Ospreys came very close to their first try when Mike Haley's clearance got charged down by Evardi Boshoff but Daly beat Nagy to the ball over the try line.

Munster were far more clinical than the hosts and scored the second try of the game when Barron powered over from short-range off the back of a well-worked driving lineout.

Crowley added the extras and Munster landed the killer blow on the stroke of half-time.

Lively scrum-half Paddy Paterson took advantage of some lazy Ospreys defence to race clear into the home side's 22 before getting brought down just metres short of the line.

But Crowley arrived quickest to burrow his way over the line while also adding the extras to give Munster a commanding 19-3 lead at the interval.

Munster started the second-half strongly and soon claimed the bonus point try.

Impressive centre Alex Nankivell ran straight through Edwards before offloading to Tom Farrell who was brought down just short of the try line by Dan Kasende.

But the damage had already been done and scrum-half Paterson put Haley over out wide with Crowley adding the extras.

To their credit the Ospreys refused to throw in the towel and finally crossed the whitewash when No 8 Morris powered over the line with Edwards adding the extras.

As an extra boost Munster lock Jack O'Donoghue got sent to the sin bin after the visitors conceded five penalties in a row.

The Ospreys tried hard to put some extra points on the board but they could find no way past a powerful Munster side.
