Man Who ‘Repeatedly Terrorises Women’ Jailed Again After Ignoring Restraining Order
Michael Dennis Evans

A Swansea man with a long history of harassing women has been jailed once again after breaching a restraining order and becoming abusive towards police officers.

Michael Dennis Evans, 65, has repeatedly been told to stop contacting his ex‑partner — but on March 5 he turned up at her home in Swansea, knocking on the door and asking to see her, despite a court order banning all contact.

Evans has breached restraining orders more than 20 times over the years and has a long record of harassment offences.

‘Police have got nothing on me’

Swansea Crown Court heard that Evans arrived at the woman’s home while she and her housemate were inside. When the housemate told him he wasn’t allowed to see her and threatened to call police, Evans replied:

“Police have got nothing on me.”

The woman agreed to go for a walk with him, but when she didn’t return after 90 minutes, her housemate called police.

Officers went to Evans’ home, where he became verbally abusive, shouting and swearing at them. He later accused officers of being “paedophiles” and claimed they were “working for Jeffrey Epstein”.

Victim went with him ‘in the rush of the moment’

Police later found the woman had returned home. She told officers she had briefly gone to Evans’ house in a taxi before leaving again — and made clear she did not want to see him.

Evans was arrested and largely answered “no comment” in interview, though he admitted he sometimes saw his ex at Swansea Market.

A long history of harassment

Evans has 36 previous convictions for 67 offences, including:

- 23 breaches of restraining orders

- Multiple harassment offences

- Several prison sentences for similar behaviour

His past offending includes:

- Repeatedly going to an ex‑partner’s home in Gorseinon, shouting through the letterbox and forcing her to move out (jailed for 30 months in 2021)

- Bombarding the same victim with abusive and threatening messages after his release, telling her he would kill her (jailed for 18 months in 2023)

In June last year he was convicted of stalking involving fear of violence and given a suspended sentence along with a restraining order.

Judge: Evans ‘portrays himself as the victim’

Judge Paul Thomas KC said Evans had shown a “flagrant” disregard for the restraining order and noted his tendency to present himself as the victim.

Evans’ barrister said his client had been doing well on his suspended sentence until he decided to start drinking again after an alcohol‑abstinence requirement ended.

Seven months in prison

Evans was sentenced to:

- 1 month for the latest breach

- 6 months activated from his previous suspended sentence

He will serve 40% of the sentence in custody, before being released on licence.
