Major Swansea roundabout forced to shut again
Cwmbwrla Roundabout remains closed on Tuesday morning.

Swansea Council has been forced to shut a busy roundabout due to flooding overnight.

Cwmbwrla Roundabout remains closed this morning, with drivers being urged to avoid the area. There have been 10 flood alerts issued in Wales overnight as Storm Bram lands in the UK, bringing heavy rainfall which is causing river levels to rise. Natural Resources Wales has warned that there is a real risk of flooding to homes.

A Swansea Council spokesperson said: "Due to heavy rain and rising water levels we had to close Cwmbwrla Roundabout overnight. It remains closed this morning. Please use a different route and drive carefully.

"We will continue to keep you posted. Thank you."

There are currently three weather warnings in place which impact Wales on Tuesday.

The first is a yellow warning for rain which came into force at 6pm on Monday and will remain in place until 2pm on Tuesday. This covers practically the whole of Wales.

This is in place alongside a yellow warning for wind which covers a huge part of Wales including west Wales, mid Wales and most of north Wales.

Then, an ‘Amber warning’ for rain came into force at midnight until 10am on Tuesday, covering an area of south Wales.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Heavy and persistent rain will develop over south Wales on Monday evening and continue through the remainder of the night onwards into Tuesday morning. 50-75 mm of rain is expected across much of the warning area, most of which will fall in around 9 hours.

"A few exposed locations may see around 100 mm of rain. Rain will also be accompanied by strengthening southerly winds, which may exacerbate impacts."
