Burglars Stole Cars From Welsh Homes Before Police ‘Stopped Them in Their Tracks’
Benjamin Evans and Kyle Draper

Two burglars who stole multiple cars from homes across North Wales and Cheshire have been jailed after a rapid police pursuit brought their crime spree to an abrupt end.

Kyle Draper, 21, and Benjamin Evans, 20, targeted several properties over just two days in February, stealing vehicles including an Audi, a Volvo, a Hyundai and a Seat Arona.

Both men, who have no fixed address, admitted four burglaries, two thefts and dangerous driving. Draper was jailed for 42 months, while Evans received 45 months at Chester Crown Court.

Two‑day spree across Wales and Cheshire

Cheshire Police said officers launched an investigation after a series of burglaries between February 2 and 3.

Key details included:

- Two stolen cars from North Wales — a Hyundai and a Seat Arona — were spotted travelling in convoy towards Chester

- CCTV later captured the vehicles near the scene of an Audi Q3 theft in Upton

- The Hyundai was later abandoned in Crewe

- A Volvo was then stolen in Crewe, with both the Audi and Volvo seen travelling together across Cheshire and Staffordshire

High‑speed pursuit ends with two arrests

On February 3, officers from the Roads and Crime Unit located the stolen vehicles and attempted to stop them.

Both drivers fled:

- The Audi crashed in Staffordshire, where Draper was arrested

- The Volvo continued into the West Midlands at high speed before crashing, leading to Evans’ arrest

Police also seized their mobile phones, and forensic footwear analysis linked both men to one of the burglary scenes.

‘They didn’t count on us closing in’

PC Jack Ryder praised the teamwork that brought the pair down:

“These two reckless young men targeted so many addresses in such a short period of time, but didn’t count on us closing in on them and stopping them in their tracks.”

He added that the arrests should reassure the public that police remain “relentless” in pursuing offenders.
