High Street family jeweller to move out of Barry after 35 years

JKS Jewellery was started by Judith Ertogrul and Terry Heath in the late 1980s and has seen three generations of their family serve the dedicated customers of Barry and beyond from their spot in the main shopping district of the town.

There is some good news for those who will be sad to see the business go, as they aren’t closing entirely but are instead relocating across the bridge to Bristol.

The business say that this hasn’t been an easy decision to make and that they are “incredibly proud” of their roots on Holton Road and that they are “grateful for the loyalty and support” they have been shown by shoppers over the years.

In a statement released on Facebook, they stated that “with the high street continuing to decline and no real signs of improvement” they have “reached a point where moving forward elsewhere is the right step” for their business.

JKS Jewellery will be moving into a unit currently occupied by Spencer’s Jewellers on Broad Street in the Staple Hill area, before rebranding.

JKS Jewellers told the Pulse Media: “It’s sad to go when you’ve spent so much time here.

“We’d just like to thank all our customers for all the support they’ve shown over the last 30 years.

“We’ll miss you all but we’re not that far if you want to visit.”

The business on Holton Road will remain open as normal until the end of February with a closing down sale to help clear as much stock as possible before the move. They will still offer all the usual services until their closure including repairs, laser engraving, polishing, and gold purchases.

After the move, customers that wish to continue shopping with JKS Jewellery can do so. Their new venture, called The Goldsmith Co, is soon to have a fully operational website where customers be able to shop for some new bling, alongside perusing repair options than can be sent directly to the new shop.
